I am so excited for this time of the year when the students are ready to begin BUILDING WORDS and having phonogram tests!!!! This stuff is so awesome at preparing them for reading, writing, and spelling; and the students are SO capable. I am loving seeing these older kids get ready to transition on to our “Practice Kindergarten” class in June. They will be laying the foundation and learning the essentials of joining the Kindergarten class in the Fall. Practice Kindergarten is a great way for the students to ease into the big change and different structures of the new classroom. In Practice Kindergarten, the eligible students are still dropped off with me in Sr. Preschool South. At about 9:40 am, they head downstairs to Miss Shyloh’s class to have the “Practice Kindergarten” experience in a shortened, condensed form for two hours (rather than the full four hour morning). At 11:40 am the students return to my class to finish out the rest of the class time with me and the other students that are not yet old enough for Kindergarten transition. It is the perfect balance of familiar with new, and it is always a great way for the students to develop a real love for the new class. Here are some pictures of those students that have been loving building words and having their phonogram tests. Most of them are Kindergarten eligible, but there are a couple younger students that are eager and happy to learn these fun new games also.
About Miss Amanda
I love being a positive influence and role model in children's lives. It is such an amazing experience to see the daily growth and development of each student, as they blossom into the true nature of their being. The naturalization of a child is a gradual process, as they develop a sense of order, concentration, precision, logic, and reasoning. I am amazed to see the emergence of these and many other qualities on a day-to-day basis. My "work" as a teacher brings me joy, positivity, love, and fulfillment. I am always inspired, enlightened, and amazed at the pure innocence and beauty that children embody. I am so glad and grateful to have the opportunity and privilege to spend so much time educating, guiding, and building relationships with each and every student.
